His greatest work "Treatise on Dental Caries", published in 1877 receives special commendation.

Magitot's anthropological background aided his recognition of dental carries with ethnology in France, noting the differences of those with Celtic vs. Cymric backgrounds, and the possibility that endemic caries might be attributed to certain waters.
